====== Adam and Emma Hempfling House (BE 769) ======

Located on River Road in [[Constance]], the house was built for the couple by [[Adam Hempfling|Adam]] himself.  Built c.1901, the [[historic homes|home]] remained in the family for six decades.

One of several Homestead Houses in the [[boone county|county]], the Hempfling House is tall and compact in form, with forward-facing gable.  Extending across the facade is a full-width, shed-roofed porch with center gable.  Extending across the facade is a full-width, shed roofeed porch with center gable, carried by chamfered posts and enclosed by a crossbuck-style wooden balustrade.  Below the porch, a skirt of vertical wood siding, with notched edge, conceals the crawlspace.
