Big Gunpowder Creek is located in southwest [[Boone County]] flowing into the [[Ohio River]] below [[Rabbit Hash]], between [[Kirtley Lodge]] and [[Hamilton]]. 

The creek is 513.5 miles below Pittsburgh, where the Ohio begins, and 467.5 miles from the mouth, where it joins the Mississippi. Just south, at mile 466.4 is [[Little Gunpowder Creek]].
