====== Schools in 1960s Florence ====== In 1960, Florence had three schools: Boone County High School, Florence Elementary School and St. Paul School- a private Catholic school. By 1969, Florence had a total of five schools nearby, having added Ockerman Middle School in 1965 and Yealey Elementary School in 1963. === Yealey Elementary School === A.M. Yealey in 1945 Yealey Elementary School opened in 1963 and was dedicated to [[a.m._yealey|Almer Michael Yealey]] (1873-1962), long time Boone County teacher and principal. Along with being a teacher, Mr. Yealey liked to write newspaper articles about [[Boone County]] history.
