====== Transportation in 1960s Florence ======
| |The crossroads of Dixie Highway and Route 42 in Florence have always been essential to the growth and development of the town- going back to the early 1800's. Churches and businesses have always been centered on the "four" corners of the intersection.|
| |Roads in Florence and in Boone County were usually only two lanes and not always paved in the 1960's. This photo of Route 42 in Florence was taken in June of 1959. As you can see, there wasn't as much development outside of town. Florence was mostly surrounded by farm fields.|
||The building of I-75/71 past Florence in 1959 helped commuters get into Covington and Cincinnati faster and easier.|
