====== Garrison Creek ====== John Barnard, Jr. House Garrison or Garrison's Creek was named after the little creek that the community grew up around along the [[ohio_river|Ohio River]]. The farming community sat between [[bullittsburg_baptist_church|Bullittsburg Baptist Church]] and the Ohio River. At one time, the community had a [[schools|school]] and a grist mill. Well-known families from the area include: the Barnard Family; [[sam_delph|the Delph Family]]; the Stephens Family; and the Whitaker Family. The town has been the focus of suspicious [[the_underground_railroad_in_boone_county|Underground Railroad]] activity and the home of Free Person of Color Mat [[bates_family|Bates]], who was accused of assisting Freedom Seekers as a Conductor.
