Hebron Lutheran Church Hopeful's founders, originally from Alsace or the Palatinate region of southwestern Germany, emigrated to Madison County, Virginia during the 1700s, where they were members of Virginia's Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Congregation. During the 1800s they migrated west to Kentucky, traveling along the Wilderness Road. Lakes [[1883]] atlas indicates that many descendants of the Germanna migrants, including members of the [[tanner family|Tanner]], [[crisler family|Crisler]], [[crigler family|Crigler]], [[clore family|Clore]] and [[rouse family|Rouse]] families, continued to live in or near Hebron many years later. A [[hebron lutheran church cemetery|cemetery]] adjoins the church. The [[towns|town]] of [[Hebron]] was named for the church, with whose early history it is closely intertwined. ===== More Information ===== * [[https://bcp.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/history/search/results?qu=hebron+lutheran+church&qf=BCPL_TYPE%09Record+Type%09Photograph%09Photograph&te=ASSET|Browse photographs]] of Hebron Lutheran Church * //[[https://bcp.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/search/asset/24009/0|A Brief History of Hebron Lutheran Church]]// [PDF] * [[https://bcp.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/history/search/results?qu=protestant+hebron+lutheran+church&te=&lm=LHDC|Local history file: Protestant-Hebron Lutheran Church]] ===== Related Topics ===== * [[Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery]] * [[Churches]] of Boone County * [[Lutheran]] churches * [[Historic buildings]] * [[Hebron]]
