====== James Blackburn House (BE 198) ====== James Blackburn House A classic I-house, the James Blackburn House is one of the finest in the county. The house was constructed c. 1850-60 and exhibits a five-bay front, tin roof and interior gable-end chimneys. The main entrance is framed by a rectangular transom and sidelights, and the windows contain 6/6 sash. At the rear is an original gabled ell. The front porch was salvaged from a farmhouse that was razed to build the [[Florence Mall]]. Several similar dwellings–centerpieces of prosperous farms–were built along the [[Transportation In Boone County|Covington-Lexington Turnpike]] (now the [[Dixie Highway]]) in the mid-19th century. ===== Related Topics ===== * [[Historic Homes]]
