====== Mail Pouch Barn ====== Mail Pouch Barn This modest transverse-frame barn of the mid-20th century is built of young trees -- many with the bark still in place -- which were likely cut on the same property along South Fork Church Road near [[Verona]]. The broad side exhibits a faded advertisement for Mail Pouch Tobacco. Although common in other areas, these icons of rural America are rarely found in [[Boone County]]. The interior of the barn conceals a surprise: a one-story, single-pen log cabin set on stone piers. The walls are secured by lapped-corner notching, and the chinking is intact. The doors, windows, and chimney have been removed. ===== Related Topics ===== * [[Historic buildings]]
