======Mary Simpson, c. 1866-1873======

Mary was born in Kentucky as a free person.  Her mother was Ellen Simpson, the daughter of [[jilson_hawkins|Jilson]] and [[eliza_hawkins_simpson|Eliza Hawkins]].  Ellen moved with her parents to Rising Sun, Indiana, a year after her daughter died.  Although there was no explanation of Mary’s death, [[james_dinsmore|James Dinsmore]] did make note of the coffin he purchased.  Like her sister or aunt, Eliza, Mary was buried on the hill above the Dinsmore house, with two fieldstones marking her grave.
