======S. Walker Tolin House====== Senator S. Walker Tolin House //Excerpt from the Burlington Historic District National Register Nomination// Built c. 1890, this home reflects some of the more innovative trends in American architecture at the end of the 19th century. In traditional architecture in the county the wall surface was treated as a plane, but the Tolin house has fancy brick-work, including a mousetooth cornice that marks the second floor line, that gives depth to the wall surface. S. Walker Tolin was a state senator and a lawyer in Burlington. =====Related Topics===== * [[burlington_historic_district|Burlington Historic District]] ====Related Websites==== * National Register Information (PDFs), [[https://npgallery.nps.gov/NRHP/AssetDetail?assetID=f587918d-3eaf-4840-b3ed-c6716bf39303|inventory form and photos]]
