Benjamin G. Willis was born in 1792 in Culpeper County, VA. He married Nancy Ann Mosby Grant in Boone County in 1814. Benjamin was a veteran of the War of 1812 and served under Captain Scott. He was commissioned Sheriff of Boone County in 1822. Benjamin died in 1829 and is buried in the Willis-Grant Cemetery in Belleview.
