Susan Bell Dinsmore, 1835-1851

By Cathy Callopy

Susan was the youngest of James and Martha Dinsmore's three daughters. Her early death at the age of fifteen was a great tragedy for the faily. On a boating excursion on Lake Erie, she and her cousin, Mary Ann Goodrich drowned when the boat sprang a leak. Already interested in the popular movement of Spiritualism, James Dinsmore became a committed practitioner after his daughter's death.
