The Death of James E. Powers

At His Home In Covington late Saturday After a Long Illness

James E. Powers, age 68, died at his home in Covington, Ky., late Saturday after a long illness from artero schlerosis and other complications. He was tenderly cared for by his devoted wife and mother, Mrs. E.B. Muirheid, who made her home with them.

He was born and raised in Dry Ridge, Grant County, Kentucky, and was engaged in agricultural pursuits for a number of years. Leaving the farm he and his wife located in Covington, where he engaged in the real estate business. He afterward was in charge of the Country Club at Ryland, Ky. He was a man well life and surrounded himself with many friends who mourn his death.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Lottie Powers, he leaves a brother, Thomas Powers, Crittenden, Ky., and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Gardner Worthville, Ky., and Mrs. Anthony Fierock, Ludlow.

The funeral sermon was preached at his home, 1115 Scott Boulevard, Tuesday afternoon, by Rev. A.K. Johnson, Baptist minister of near Falmouth, Ky. On Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, requiem high mass was intoned at St. Mary’s Cathedral, with burial at Independence (Ky.) Cemetery.

The Many friends of Mrs. Powers extend their sympathy in the bereavement.
