<html><img alt=“John Dempsey House” src=“https://bcp.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/search/asset/29028/0” width=“250” align=“right” title=“John Dempsey House”></html> Constructed in the early 19th Century, the John Dempsey House is situated in the Mud Lick Valley on Risner Road. The house enjoys a secluded rural setting with a branch of the creek meandering through the property. It is a substantial two-story log dwelling on the hall-parlor plan, with stout logs joined by half-dovetail notching. A massive, stucco-clad stone chimney adjoins the north elevation. The two-story front porch is a recent addition.

John Dempsey was one of many Irish immigrants who settled in the Verona area in the mid-19th century.
