Ross House (BE 385)

<html><img alt=“Ross House” src=“https://bcp.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/search/asset/33455/0” width=“250” align=“right” title=“Ross House”></html> This historic home is located on Mt. Zion Rd in Union. Local tradition asserts it was built for a physician who intended to use one of the front rooms for his office. Following his bride’s sudden death, however, he sold the property.

The Ross House exemplifies the two-door saddlebag house, with trademark twin doors and center-ridge chimney. A simple Folk Victorian porch shelters the doorways. A frame cellar behind the house bears the date “1878” inscribed in plaster. Also on the property are an English barn, chicken coop and smokehouse.
