Isabella Ramsay Dinsmore Flandrau, 1830-1867
By Cathy Callopy
Isabella was the eldest child of James and Martha Dinsmore and was the only one of the three to marry. She wed her first cousin, Charles Flandrau, in the parlor of the main house in 1859. The couple made their home in Minnesota where Flandrau was a respected lawyer and one-time judge. When she was pregnant, first in 1861 and then in 1866, she returned to Boone County to give birth in her father's house. When the youngest was seven months old, Isabella died - likely from complications from the birth. Julia brought the children, Patty and Sally, back to Boone County to raise them.
