Big Bone Creek
Big Bone Creek runs into the Ohio River at Big Bone Landing, mile 464.2 along the Ohio. It is the southern-most point of the county on the river. Big Bone Landing is also known as Boone's Landing.
The creek is located 516.8 miles below Pittsburgh, and is navigable for about two to four miles, depending upon the water depth. It is joined by Mud Lick Creek about four-tenths of a mile from the mouth. Some older maps show the main stream as Mud Lick running into the Ohio, with Big Bone Creek as the tributary. (Either way is the same; we can say the Ohio runs into the Gulf of Mexico, and the Mississippi joins it as Cairo, IL.)
The creek runs through Big Bone Lick State Park, but is not navigable at that distance from the river.
