The First Universalist Church was organized in the 1840s and was originally located on East Bend Road, near Waterloo. In 1851, the congregation hosted the Kentucky State Convention of Universalists. In 1876, a new church location was established in Burlington. Both locations were active for a short period of time, but the Burlington location soon became the only meeting house for the congregation.
