Daniel Dew House (BE 53)

<html><img alt=“Daniel Dew House” src=“https://bcp.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/search/asset/33618/0” width=“350” align=“right” title=“Daniel Dew House”></html> Reportedly built for a riverboat captain in 1878, this house is one of the significant buildings that form a visual boundary to the town of Petersburg: it faces thetown but is not in line with the grid of streets. The second-floor balcony and the two-story semioctagonal bay seem to indicate that the owner or builder was influenced by the Jenkins House on Prospect Hill (Be-55).
