Boone County
- Hopeful Lutheran Church is organized.
- Aaron Burr passes through Florence on his way west to escape imprisonment for killing Alexander Hamilton in a dual. Many in Kentucky disliked Hamilton, and regard Burr as a hero.
Kentucky
- Joseph Hamilton Daviess, the federal District Attorney for Kentucky, charged Aaron Burr, claiming that he intended a war with Mexico. Burr and his young attorney, Henry Clay, had the case dismissed.
U.S. & World
- America's first covered bridge is built over the Schuylkill River near Philadelphia.
