- Boone County's second courthouse building is built.
- The Anderson Ferry carries its first goods across the Ohio River.

Kentucky
- The Legislature charters forty-six independent banks which were not required to redeem their notes with specie. Kentucky is flooded with this soon-to-be worthless paper money.

- The Seminole War begins on the border between the U.S. and Spanish Florida.
- John Jacob Astor receives a fur trade monopoly in the Mississippi Valley, the foundation of his fortune.
- Mississippi gains statehood.
